Clyde Cessna, with only a fifth-grade education and lacking a private pilot’s license, founded Cessna Aircraft Company in 1927 and helped create the general aviation industry. In the decades to follow, Cessna Aircraft grew into an aviation powerhouse that produced more than 100,000 piston-powered airplanes and 2,000 Citation jets.
