BLR Aerospace Announces New FAA-Certified LED Lights

EVERETT, WA., October 6, 2011 – BLR Aerospace, the global leader in accelerating performance for popular fixed- and rotary-wing aircraft from manufacturers such as by Hawker Beechcraft and Bell Helicopter, has announced certification of a new LED Lighting System for King Air 200s equipped with BLR Winglet Systems.

The FAA-certified advanced light-emitting diode (LED) lighting system is available for the Hawker Beechcraft King Air 200s (BB1157 and up), all King Air 200GT’s, all King Air 250’s, and all King Air 300’s, with deliveries scheduled to begin immediately.

The new system will be featured at the National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) 64th Annual Meeting & Convention in the Las Vegas Convention Center, Oct. 10-12, 2011. The BLR Aerospace exhibit is Booth C11838, Hall C4.1, Level One.

Approval for the light system from both the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and Brazil’s Agência Nacional de Aviação Civil (ANAC) is expected soon.  In addition, a FAA supplemental type certificate will follow for King Air 90 Series aircraft in early 2012.

“The LEDs are an excellent option, especially for pilots who are sensitive to flight cancellations due to bulb failure,” said Dave Marone, BLR’s vice president of Sales and Marketing.  “Improved mission readiness is an important benefit, because LEDs are much more reliable than incandescent lighting systems, reduce weight, and modernize the King Air lighting system.”

The LED System complements BLR’s outstanding King Air Winglet Systems that reduce drag, increase air speed and improve fuel economy. BLR LED lights are optional upgrades available for most new BLR King Air 200/300 Winglet installation or available in field upgrade kits for most King Air 200/300’s already equipped with BLR Winglet Systems. The light systems will be available from BLR’s worldwide network of dealers and service providers for King Air 200/300’s and for King Air 90s with serial numbers LJ1085 and higher after certification for the 90 Series.
