Performance
Improve Your Aircraft's Performance
The performance increases enabled by BLR Aerospace products are certified and proven in use daily on a range of Bell helicopters, Hawker Beechcraft King Airs and a various piston-powered aircraft. Some of the enhancements are astonishing and dramatic – and others are more moderate. From increased lifting capability to a faster rate of climb, BLR’s performance-enhancing technologies are helping operators fly more efficiently, effectively and safely.

FastFin® Systems
The FastFin Tail Rotor Enhancement and Stability System modifies the helicopter tailboom with two parallel stall strips (Dual Tailboom Strakes) and a re-shaped vertical fin, optimizing airflow around the tailboom. This simple modification results in dramatically improved handling, productivity and safety, among other benefits. Bell 412 operators can realize up to a 1250 pound increase in useful load (a 91 percent increase). Amazing!

Dual Tailboom Strakes
BLR Aerospace began working to enhance helicopter performance in 1998 based on work that NASA’s Langley Research Center was doing in support of tailboom strakes technology. The U.S. Army had asked NASA to study its problems with loss of tail rotor effectiveness. NASA found that main rotor wash was being accelerated as it went around the curved tail boom. This acceleration of airflow and resultant increased pressure acted against the boom, causing a force movement disadvantageous to controlling the helicopter. BLR Aerospace began working with NASA and acquired an exclusive NASA technology-transfer license to research products resulting from this data. Today, Dual Tailboom Strakes are available for a variety of Bell helicopter models.

Winglet Systems
Having a BLR Winglet System installed on your Beechcraft King Air will reduce induced drag so you can fly faster or improve fuel economy, or some of both. Winglets also enable reduced time to climb, extended range, improved handling, improved OEI climb, improved high altitude performance and improved slow flight.
